About Us

High Wycombe Gateway Club is a social club for adults with learning disabilities meeting on a Tuesday evening at the Wrights Meadow Community Centre. On a club night members can take part in a variety of activities including quizzes, art and crafts, music, games and a sports activity that might include indoor football, cricket, archery, keep fit, dance, discos and much more. Our members take an active part in devising each term’s timetable. Our members are listened to and included in all decisions regarding the club’s activities and days out.

Gateway was  started over 50 years ago by a group of parents who realised there was a lack of provision for their adult children once they left the School/College system. Since those early years Gateway Club has been on an exciting journey to become the vibrant busy club we are today, seeing changes of venue, club leaders, volunteers and members.

Currently we have 70+ members with a diverse mix of disabilities and abilities making for a dynamic and fun place to meet socially. Our members are supported by a team of 15 dedicated volunteers who bring a world of different skills to our club.

We are immensely proud of the club we are today offering adults with learning disabilities a place to socialise, have fun and try a variety of activities supported by a dedicated group of volunteers.

Our vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and are included. Everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve all they want in life.
